Legal & Ethical issues

In terms of photo shoot, this might be in terms of misrepresentation, copyright, royalties
LEGAL
In terms of legal issues, these tends to be about who owns the rights to something, or whether you are slandering (saying something about someone that is not true), or sometimes it can be a legal issue of making sure your content is not breaking the law (as in there is no suffering to animals depicted)
ETHICAL
Ethics are more of a minefield and there are certain ethical considerations that we have in the west that are important to understand. Ethics is about what society views as right.
Such as – is there a balance between male/female genders
If there are,  are these stereotypical roles (eg powerful  and strong male, weak female often dressed provocatively)
Is there swearing, are there weapons?

Southpark is controversial because a lot of people disapprove of its ethics. However, the producers might argue that it is for a small cult audience who are adult enough to know what is right and what is wrong.

What are the legal and ethical issues of your production and can you justify them?
(Delete rows or add to them as applicable)

LEGAL

Issue

Solved or justified?
Getting permission because if you don’t get permission the owner of the photo is able to get money from you in a law suit

It is justified by getting a release form for the person to sign that means that you are allowed you to use them in the photo because they sign the form to give you permission.
Filming in certain location because they could be privately owned
By getting permission to film in the private location you are able to use the film captured and also pictures

Having racist or offensive against a person, religion etc.
This is solved by not adding any information that is seemed racist or against a religion
Not having a credit block on your poster

This is solved by adding in a credit block to your film poster so it allows all the people who worked on the film to get credit

ETHICAL

Issue

Solved or justified?
Using a photo of someone for something they didn’t agree with

Solve this by getting permission from the person in the picture or get permission from the person who owns the property, once they get permission you can use the picture
Not having gender equality in the film or poster

This can be solved by having an equal amount of men to women or showing them having the same amount of something.
Not having age ratings for the film on the poster

Using someone’s personal information in evidence

A poster doesn’t have to have an age rating on it because it isn’t a legal issue but it if it does have the age range it allows people to know if they are the right age to see the film.

This can be solved by not adding a person’s personal information to the final product which could show people where a famous person lives.
